My guide to ATHENS
Where to sleep, eat and shop
Athens is such an underdog city in my opinion. Everyone goes on about Rome, London and Paris but time and time again, I fall in love with this city a bit more every time I leave. Comparatively to other Euro major cities: it’s clean-er, the food and restaurant scene is fantastic and I always find the coolest vintage pieces when I am in Athens and I specifically make time to visit a particular set of shops to fill up on the op shop goods.
My standard practice during my annual Euro expedition is to spend 2 nights there before I run off to the islands for the sun and the sea. Admittedly, Athens is spicy hot in temperature during the Summer due to all the concrete but I find that what I gain from being there for 2 nights and 2 days in the perfect filler-up that I need before I head for my ultimate R & R of beaching, napping and cooking. Normally I will arrive straight from Australia to Athens so I use this time to get over my jet lag by sleeping in a comfy bed at a good hotel (but not fancy) and eating yum food whilst I adjust to the timezone switch.
Below are my recommendations for where to stay, where to eat and where to shop - PMami style. I hope you enjoy and fall in love with this city as much as I have!
With love, chaos & rigatoni,
PM x
